Although this applies to all marketing and lead generation methods and advertising media, take
a look at the Yellow Pages` mortgage or loan sections for a few minutes.
You could cut all the ads up, interchange names, and do very little
damage, because everybody is saying the same things the same way. This is
called an `advertising blur.`
Few mortgage professionals ever develop a really good answer to this
question: `Why should I, your prospective client, choose you vs. any and
every other mortgage professional?`
That answer is called a `Unique Selling Proposition` (USP), and it has
almost magical power when done right. I bang away at brokers over and over
again, a predictable nag, to get them to create their own USPs. And
I`m not talking about simple slogans, like `we listen.`
Everybody claims that, too.
